Special Needs School
|
In the first few years of our involvement with Lyssons Special Needs School, we focused on helping provide the teachers with teaching materials, supplies, a laptop, and educational electronics.
Later, we replaced the roof and ceiling, repaired broken light fixtures, and broken plumbing as well as painting the interior of the whole facility. After learning of poor performance on standardized testing, we instituted a breakfast feeding program 2 days per week. Attendance improved greatly as did the test scores. It is a goal of IS68 to continue to support this school by continuing to address the hunger, keeping the facility in suitable condition for learning and making sure the children and teachers have the materials and technology they need.
