Basic Schools
|
Basic schools, often community preschools, are typically situated within walking distance for families due to local transportation challenges.
Many of these schools are affiliated with local churches but face significant financial constraints. The accompanying photos vividly depict the dilapidated conditions of numerous schools, contrasted with improvements made by IS68 through replacements and repairs. Our commitment to supporting Basic Schools extends beyond infrastructure enhancements. We remain dedicated to furnishing teaching aids, electronic educational devices, and essential student supplies, empowering these institutions to provide quality education despite resource limitations. Furthermore, the issue of hunger and poor nutrition persists in the eastern region of Jamaica, detrimentally impacting children's academic performance. In response, IS68 is exploring avenues to address these challenges. We aspire to engage preschool teachers from the US to journey to the area, offering mentorship to basic school educators, devising solutions to both combat hunger and provide instructional support and materials to enhance teaching effectiveness. Through these collective efforts, we aim to uplift basic schools and nurture a conducive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and holistic development for all students. |
